Ghana
The PARM Process has been presented to the Government of Ghana in June 2023 after the donors have reiterated their wish that the platform could mobilize its services and provide technical assistance to Ghana, in order to contribute to the country’s resilience with a better integration of Agricultural Risk Management (ARM) into policies, institutional capacities, and investments in the country’s sustainable development.

Setting up
In June 2023, an official letter has been sent to the Government of Ghana (GoG) to present the PARM technical assistance and process in a country, and open dialogue to plan a setting-up mission. The ratification of the launch of the PARM process in the country, through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, took place on 15 March 2024. The objective will be to contribute to better integrating agricultural risk management into Ghana’s policies, institutional capacities, and investments in sustainable development. This collaboration will pave the way for the development of an investment project focusing on two priority crops, identified jointly by the Government and its strategic partners.
Design of Programme/Project
As part of the process, the PARM project design mission will take place from 12 to 24 August 2024 in Ghana to consult key stakeholders in the agricultural sector and collect relevant data to feed the project components.
Learning
As part of its mandate to facilitate a process of joint learning cycles targeting the key country stakeholders to strengthen local expertise and to enhance institutional capacities to manage agricultural risks, in a gender responsive way, PARM hosted a training of trainers’ workshop, dedicated to private sector actors beneficiaries of PARM’s donors and partners, from 25 to 27 June, in Accra. Organised in close collaboration with the Italian Cooperation Agency, the workshop, which gathered over 70 participants, aimed at building the capacity of private sector organisations on the holistic approach to risk management, risk assessment and prioritization by value chain and evidence-based, risk tools and strategies and monitoring & evaluation.
