Feasibility study for investment in access to information systems in Niger

Abstract:

The PARM RAS study in Niger identified access to essential information as one of the specific areas needing investment for robust agricultural risk management (ARM). This report presents the research proposal for investment in access to information systems in Niger. It targets three thematic areas of information – market price, climate and production – jointly identified by PARM and HC3N as the most important for agricultural risk management. The proposal reveals that Niger has an effective information feedback system in all the focused thematic areas of ARM. For instance, field information is widely available from national and donors support services. However, most of the information is paper-based and in French. Thus, creating a barrier for disaggregating the information and communicating the scientific content.
